A Guide On How To Pimp Your iPhone

From the moment the concept of the iPhone was introduced to the public, people all over the world have been waiting for its release. However, when it was indeed released, there were actually a lot of negative comments rising from just about everywhere. Glitches and such were found with the iPhone, particularly when this gadget was unlocked. Still, the many people who bought this gadget have been doing their best in conquering and making the most of their mobile phones. This is a sort-of attempt at sticking to their decisions to buy the iPhone, even if there are so many people saying that these buyers have been duped of their money. But the fighting spirit of these many buyers is quite founded because there are certain improvements that have been made. And yes, a lot of methods on how to pimp your iPhone have indeed been discovered.

One particular way to pimp your iPhone is to create customized iPhone ringtones without having to pay Apple the regular fee of $2. Now, you may ask if this is indeed legal or not, and you are in every position to ask just that. There is actually a delicate balance as to the legality of this option, but let us not dwell on that right now, for the sake of being informative here. What is recommended here, however, is that you use songs that you have ripped or burned from a CD. Do not use music files that are protected, because that is downright illegal already.

What you will need for this process is your iPhone, of course, iTunes, MP3 files that are not protected, audio editing software, and iPhone unlocking software. iTunes can be downloaded from Apple for free for both Macintosh and Windows operating systems. The iP
hone unlocking software is actually optional.

The first thing to do is to find your Ringtones folder. If you have the iTunes 7.4 on your phone, then you can easily find this folder under iTunes music library. If you cannot find this, then make sure to check the option Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized. The next step is to edit or modify the song you want. Resize it down to a more appropriate length and size. You can just choose the favorite part of the song for this. The recommended size is up to 3MB, which should be roughly around 20 to 30 seconds of the music file.

Once you have that shortened music file, you should then add it onto your iTunes library. Right-click on the file in iTunes, and you can then choose the Convert to AAC option. This is actually needed for the file to be converted into a ringtone form. Once the conversion is completed, you should then rename the file extension. The appropriate file extension for this is .m4r, and then move the AAC file to the Ringtones folder that you will find inside your music library. Renaming the file extension can be a bit tricky at times because both Mac and Windows operating systems often keep file extensions hidden. You should then make sure that the option to Hide Extensions is switched off for both operating systems. This way, you are sure that you are not merely appending file extensions to the ones that are merely hidden.

Upon syncing your iPhone, you will then find the newly created ringtones in the sound settings. You can then start using whatever ringtone you have customized to your own liking. And this is just one of the many ways that you can pimp your iPhone! You can check the web for so much more on the topic easily. This way, you are sure to maximize the investment you made when you decided to get the iPhone for your personal use.
