Crisis slows the development of Canadian digital market

According to the report DigiWorld 2009 Spain, the world market for telecommunications services, which between 2005 and 2007 experienced an average of 6%, slowed in 2008 with a growth rate that has fallen to 4.2% and a total turnover value in almost one trillion euros.

COUNTRY QUOTA

hirds more than in advanced economies, despite a much stronger dynamic emerging regions, which have gained nearly five points of market share world since 2005. LATIN AMERICA

DigiWorld markets of Latin America accounted for just over 7% of the world and, although slowed, growth in the region is sustained (10%).

In telecommunications, mobile services have achieved great success with over 420 million customers and an average density of 76% in late 2008 in the region. SPANISH SITUATION

Within this global picture, in Spain DigiWorld markets have been marked by the crisis, a situation that has been particularly sensitive to consumer electronics. The telecommunications market reached a turnover of 30,360 million euros (counting only the end-user services), which represented a decrease of 2.1%.

Mobile telephony continues to be the main contribution of the sector revenue, although its growth has slowed, to assume about 50% of the total market and more than 15,000 million euros.

For its part, the markets for hardware, software and IT services in Spain were the only ones that showed growth in all markets DigiWorld, 5.9% to 18,196 million euros. The component that increased was the most laptops.

In fact, 72% of investment in computers in 2008 was in notebooks, compared to 65% in 2007. The audiovisual sector and of consumer electronics were the most blamed the crisis. The first, due mainly to a decline in advertising revenue, revenue was reduced by 5.3%, remaining at 5.407 million euros.

Consumer electronics noticed a decline in turnover of 7.17% compared to growth of 8.1% in 2007 and 15.6% in 2006, there was a drop in sales of all products except for the consoles and LCD televisions.
