Blogging
The internet has started up back in the 90s at the latest. By the time it was widely available there were tons of websites that you could view. Almost 10 years later, blogs began to appear. Blogs are very similar to websites in that they are hosted on a domain and they are viewed online. But as we go further, the similarities fall off.
Blogs are actually quite different from the traditional website. They are becoming extremely popular too. What is it that makes them so intriguing. For one thing, a website takes days, and even weeks to setup. A blog can be done in hours, maybe even minutes. Once you submit a website into a search engine, or web directory, it could take months, maybe even a year for it to get indexed. Blogs get indexed with in days, a week at the most.
Another thing that makes blogs popular is that it is easy to update. You can update a blog from anywhere as opposed to a website which from what I've read has to be changed by someone else. (that I don't understand) Also, Blogs are more interactive than static websites.
There are "disadvantages" to a blog. A traditional, "static" website has multiple pages and is often a lot easier to navigate than a blog. Plus, your posts after a while, go disappear into the archives which are named by months. Not many people are going to click on a month as opposed to a link, or button named specifically for the page it leads to. Unfortunately, only loyal followers are going to read all of your posts.
There are ways around that. You can link an older post to a newer post related to that older post to give you more views. Also, if you have multiple blogs, you can link them together to make one blog that is a little more like the static websites with multiple pages.
Blogs are growing at a popularity that rivals static websites. Who knows what the future will hold for the internet but blogs seem to be here to stay.
